Question by Julia: What causes generalized/social anxiety disorder?
I have social anxiety disorder for about 3 years now. I’m not sure what caused it but I remember when I was a kid, I was utterly shy. I’ve been so until high school. Just a year after high school, first I had generalized anxiety disorder with agoraphobia, then social anxiety disorder. Analyzing my life, I would say it’s possible it has something to do with my overprotective family and having a tough childhood. But I see people with this disorder who never had a serious problem and still doesn’t have one.

What causes this disorder? I ask both medical explanation AND your guesses.

I think its the way you were raised, you get all your social skills between the ages of 1-5 if you were a neglected child during these years and was shown little affection. you will have the disorder

Is it true that stress causes acne, because generalized anxiety disorder definitely causes stress (and a lot of it). But I was wondering: how much of my acne does that account for?

it depends on your type of acne because i have an anxiety disorder too and my skin is clear…except sometimes i get a difficult pimple once in a while but its because im in the age of acne you know so its not just because of that it could be.

Question by Lady Gamer: Generalized Anxiety Disorder & Roller Coasters?
I was diagnosed with Panic Disorder years ago. I’ve been suffering from GAD since then (diagnosed months ago), and that leads me to be curious. I am terrified of coasters and my fiance is hoping to get me to ride a few, to overcome my fear. (I’m tired of being the girl left holding the coats.)

In any case, they always warn you about preexisting medical conditions. Does GAD or Panic Disorder count? I don’t have any heart issues, but I have heavy anxiety which can cause my stomach to get upset, my breath to speed up, things like that. (I am being treated, by the way. So it’s not as bad now) Can generalized anxiety cause anxiety-induced heart attacks?
-I am currently on Wellbutrin SR 150MG. Also, I have been given Xanax for panic attacks, but those are infrequent.
-Well, my fiance’s family offered to take me, and I’m asking about it that way. I’m not going out of my way to overcome a fear.
-Also, my more important anxiety-inducing fears are being smoothed through therapy, so I’m not neglecting my treatment or anything.

just try a roller coaster thats not really big. then gradually get them bigger. and see how you handle them. i dont think it counts. its really up to you.

I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and the doctors after running a series of blood tests are convinced that this is the cause of my fatigue. To what extent can anxiety cause fatigue?

Yes, most definetly. It can cause tremendous fatigue
